Commodore Cup Cars are
based on either VC-VH or VR-VS commodore sedan body shells. The
drivetrain, brakes and suspension are identical for both body styles.
Almost all components are controlled.
Engine - These cars run a 4.2L Holden V8 (253)
making ~340Hp at the flywheel. A standard cylinder block, crank and rod
form the basis of the engine. Yella Terra supply either steel or
aluminium cylinder heads and roller rockers. Other components include a
controlled Crow cam, ACL pistons, Edelbrock intake mainfold, and a 465
Holley carb. Sump and Exhaust are free.
box & differential - The gearbox is a Super T-10. Gear
ratio's and tooth counts are fixed. Most competitors run dog engagement
gear sets. Shifter is free. The Differential is the Borg Waner 78,
modified to include a spool and full floating hub set-up. Final drive
ratio's are specified for each track.
Suspension & brakes -
A controlled spring and damper package is supplied by Quadrant
suspensions. Competitors have a choice of sway bars. A Dunlop control
tyre is used on ROH Reflex 8" rims. Front callipers are twin piston
corvette utilising a 330mm rotors, rear callipers are standard V8
commodore front callipers with 300mm rotors.
